Yoriko is an experienced higher education professional and strong advocate of inclusivity and diversity in research. Director of the Global Research Network and Think Tank, Research Associate at SOAS, member of the Global Animal Law Expert Group, and on the Board of Minding Animals International. She is on the Editorial Board of Bloomsbury Press' exciting new book series, 'Posthumanism in Practice', and is a Governor at the brilliant Canterbury Academy Trust.
​She teaches at Kent Law School and lives in Canterbury, England with her beloved family and other animals.​

​Dr. Yoriko Otomo BA/LLB (Hons) PhD (Law) (University of Melbourne) is a world-class scholar and teacher. A published author with over 27 peer-reviewed publications and an expert on interdisciplinary research. She has given over one hundred public talks and is frequently invited to speak and to coach students and academics around the world.
  
She spent her formative years in international settings, moving between continents and schools as her parents pursued their work. While she relished discovering the world, it was rarely easy.
 
“I faced concrete challenges from an early age, having to adapt to new cultural and academic environments frequently. So many people were there to support me. Now it's my turn to give back to the academic community and help others."
 
Yoriko went on to have a successful academic career, with multiple scholarships, awards, prizes and fellowships. Her doctorate at Australia’s top law school was published as a monograph by Oxford University Press. At a young age, she became tenured faculty at SOAS, University of London and was most recently a Visiting Fellow at the University of Oxford. Yoriko has taught and examined at world-class universities in the UK and Australia, with her students going on to establish dream careers. She was endorsed for an ‘Exceptional Talent’ visa by the British Academy, and lives in the UK.
